A few things for a quiet day
Have the following items on hand for those times when your child must play independently, such as when you or your children’s caregiver are getting an older sibling ready for school, or feeding or changing a baby.
Blocks or stacking items / soft materials for two year olds, regular or stacking puzzles for ages three and up.
Writing implements and paper / starting with chunky crayons and construction paper for very young children and moving on to special markers for older ones.
Items to line up or organize / small plastic dolls, action figures, toy cars, or even pom-poms. Make sure nothing presents a choking hazard should a child place an item in his or her mouth.
Dolls or puppets / to create imaginary scenes or cuddle with.
Books / board books, photo books, and early childhood favorites are especially great.
