The Art of It: Agents of Distortion
Lauren and Dylan Cotton merge together their arts of installation and glassblowing
In their first collaborative project, “Agents of Distortion,” recently displayed at the Silvermine Art Center, artist couple Lauren and Dylan Cotton merge together their art practices of installation and glassblowing to create a psychotropic microcosm.
The piece has the feel of an alternate universe, a colorful lunar landscape that draws the viewer in and leaves a lasting impression.
“The palatial colors expose a structural framework of infinite visual possibilities within the space,” explains Lauren. “Reflective-glass forms further push the optical and corporeal boundaries of the colors, causing them to become anamorphic, skewed, and endless.”
