The Flutter Zone
A unique walk-through butterfly encounter
Rod Serling Voiceover: “You are traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight, and sound, but also of touch. You are about to take a journey into a place of extraordinary beauty, where anyone who enters cannot help but gaze in wonder at the perfection of this small part of the world. You are about to enter (Musical Sting) The Flutter Zone.”
Yes folks, back by popular demand: The Flutter Zone, a unique walk-through butterfly encounter, featuring dozens of varieties of tropical butterflies from South America and Asia. The exhibit is located in the Maritime Aquarium’s picturesque riverfront courtyard. As visitors walk through the enclosure, butterflies will surround them, and appear almost to dance in mid-air.
There is also a small ‘pollinators’ garden’ filled with flowering plants that native butterflies specifically seek for food. Visitors will also have the opportunity to observe the life cycle of butterflies unfold through a display that features live chrysalises, which will continue to metamorphose throughout the summer to keep the exhibit stocked with beautiful fluttering butterflies.
While you’re there, make sure to check out the IMAX film, Flight of the Butterflies. The film and all exhibits are included in the cost of admission.
Open thru Labor Day 2016.
