Get ready to break out your swimwear for the annual Swamp Romp at the Wilton Family YMCA, a branch of the Riverbrook Regional YMCA. This “polar plunge” inspired challenge invites community members to join YMCA staff and volunteers by raising donations in support of the Annual Campaign and to jump into the Y’s backyard pond on March 16, less than one week before Spring officially starts!
At last year’s Romp, 25 participants were clad in swim attire as they ran with brazen smiles and laughter into the freezing pond to raise money for the Riverbrook Regional YMCA Youth Development Programs. Crisp snow replaced the usually soft and golden toned sand that lines the Camp Gordyland beach, leaving much to be filled by imagination for the summer to come. Thanks to generous donors over 3500 children and teens were able to attend YMCA programs without the fear of being denied access due to financial resources or ability, a major mission of the YMCA.
This year, the Wilton Family YMCA would like to encourage all those who would like to impact someone’s life to make a splash in the New Year by jumping, leaping, running or romping at the 2018 Swamp Romp on March 16, 2018. They are looking for at least 30 participants and to raise $20,000. This year’s event proceeds will go also go towards youth who need the Y’s programs.
