Field Trip: Sagamore Hill National Historic Site

The Ridgefield Historical Society is pleased to announce its fall field trip to Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, home of Theodore Roosevelt and his family, on Saturday, October 13 from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. This all-day event includes transportation, a guided tour of the 23-room house, which underwent a three year renovation in 2013, and lunch on your own in the quaint town of Huntington. A wide variety of restaurants to choose from are within easy walking distance. Treats will be served on the bus ride back to Ridgefield.
The house at Sagamore Hill retains its original furnishings, books, and taxidermy. The site also includes The Old Orchard Museum, former home of Theodore Roosevelt, Jr., which includes artifacts that document TR’s life and accomplishments.
Members of the Historical Society receive almost a 20% discount on the cost of the trip. Meet at the south parking lot of Pond’s Edge Professional Park (click for map; 901 Ethan Allen Highway). Please arrive a little early to leave time to park and board the bus which leaves at 7:30 am sharp.
