An artist’s reception will be held on Sunday, February 26 from 3 -5pm. The reception is free and open to the community. Guests are invited to chat with the artists, browse stunning original works of art, and enjoy light refreshment.
Mary Jane Magoon’s passion for color and light feeds her desire to create her works in watercolor. Living in rural Connecticut has provided her with an endless flow of inspiration found in everyday life. She is particularly fascinated by the changing reflections of light and shadows on objects and backgrounds, as seen in her paintings of goods from the market. The transparency of watercolor makes these reflections extraordinary and luscious.
Focusing mostly in oil, emerging artist, Tom Pearsall creates representational paintings inspired by everyday scenery and objects. His landscapes and still life paintings have a strong emphasis in color and simplicity. Mr. Pearsall attended the University of North Carolina, and received his MFA in Environmental Design from Pratt Institute. He studied painting at the Lyme Academy, and since then has also studied with several painters locally. In 2016, he had a one-man show of his work in the Stairwell Gallery in Washington, CT.
The Loft Gallery is located on the second floor of The Smithy Store, 10 Main Street, New Preston CT 06777. www.thesmithystore.com
