Description

The Loft Gallery will host Washington CT abstract artist, April Crumrine. April’s series of brightly colored paintings will be on view from April 12 through May 20, 2018.

An artist’s reception will be held in the on Saturday, April 14  from 4-6pm.

This free event is open to the community, and gives guests an opportunity to meet the artist, chat with friends and fellow art enthusiasts, and enjoy light fare.

When April walks into her studio, she turns up her inspirational music, starts to select color choices, and using her deep connection to her four children, begins to build layers of color, and shape on paper. Her ‘Wink Series’ features acrylic abstract pieces, each created with deliberate thought and meaning.

With just a few chunks of bright color, some contrasting lines, and a few small simple, raw shapes, the pieces symbolize the artist’s connection to her four children, as they traveled around the world. The artistic translations are gleaned from gazing at the night sky at the constellation Orion. She would wink at it, knowing that each of her children would look up to see the same stars in the sky, from wherever they were at the time.

The Loft Gallery is located on the second floor of The Smithy Store, a meticulously renovated barn that once housed the village Smithy shop. The charming retail space offers a unique, and thoughtfully curated line of locally sourced specialty food, products and gifts from within a 70-mile radius.
