The Ridgefield Public Library holds its Great Expectations gala on Saturday, April 9, 2016 just shy of two years since the new state-of-the-art library opened its doors. The event will honor long-time library supporters Christine and Philip Lodewick with the 2016 Hope H. Swenson Visionary Award. The Lodewicks were a vital part of the $20-million capital campaign; Philip served as chairman.
The award is named for the late Hope Swenson, who for 35 years was a member of the library board. Says library director Chris Nolan: “This award honors those, like Hope, who embody the vision and mission of our library.”
The evening will include a cocktail hour, seated dinner, and testimonials about the honorees. Christine Lodewick is a trained speech pathologist and highly dedicated community volunteer, and Philip Lodewick is CEO of The Tradewell Corporation, an equipment-leasing company he founded in 1980, and chairman of Project Graphics, a production company headquartered in Burlington, Vermont.
“With targeted philanthropy at the core, the Lodewicks’ leadership roles and support for a wide range of educational, social-service, performing arts, and community-service organizations have been long-standing and impactful—locally, statewide and beyond,” says Nolan.
