Art: Sea Side
Jay Kaplan’s award-winning photography inspired by the sea
Jay Kaplan’s photographic exploration of the sea and shore opened at the Minor Memorial Library in Roxbury on August 6, 2016.
“For Kaplan, the seaboard provides a connection with eternity,” says the library’s Silky Berger. “His photographs are inspired by the tensions and transitions between flux and permanence, between calm and turbulence, which are manifested in the space between land and sea.”
Kaplan presented his photographs at the Washington Art Association, where he won the Ferguson-Sherr-Rea Award. The show—On the Edge: the Littoral and the Liminal—continues through September 17.
