New Milford's Green Granary is part luncheonette, tea room, take-out shop, and bakery
Green Granary sits discreetly at the far end of New Milford’s Railroad Street. Part luncheonette, part tea room, part take-out shop, and part bakery, at its core are foods that are vegan, gluten-free, sustainably sourced, all natural, organic, and/or non-GMO verified. Prices are reasonable, quality is high.
There are daily specials and fine soups—like the non-dairy/vegan Yankee bean. A wide selection of breakfast items includes omelets, featuring locally farm raised organic eggs, and a burrito with eggs, spinach, caramelized onions, roasted peppers, Monterey jack cheese, and organic sriracha. For lunch, try a slice of deep-dish quiche or a sandwich, panini, or wrap, like the local grass-fed roast beef with organic caramelized onions, cheddar, and horseradish mayonnaise. Baked goods include oat-chocolate-chip cookies, muffins (spelt and otherwise), maple-pecan sticky buns (Friday and Saturday), scones, pies, cakes, and fruit pies.
Enjoy a pot of Harney tea or a French-press pot of Irving Farm coffee and a selection of organic milks, juices, and sodas. Comedians Jerry Seinfeld and David Letterman stopped in while filming a video skit “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”
