Art of It - Hanging Out
This new gallery features works in progress. Now.
Call it “live art.” Cornwall Bridge Gallery has taken an innovative approach to exhibiting artists’ work. The new gallery in Kent features works in progress. The latest exhibit, “Caravan,” features nine area contemporary artists, including Goshen artist Jessica Jane Perkel, who curated the show and created the live art installation. Perkel used hot wax colored with select pigments to paint intertwined beaver sticks for her piece entitled: “There Is More Than One Way to Skin a Beaver, Part 1.” The vibrant and colorful work hangs in the gallery window, suspended by electrical wire and rope, anchored by concrete counterweights and lit with LED, all of which are part of the installation. Gallery owner David Meharg, a former tennis branding executive and the owner of Putnam Tennis, renovated the house and attached gallery on Route 7, formerly The Insiders/Outsiders Art Gallery.
