The Pine Leaf Café treats its patrons to made-to-order seasonal breakfast and lunch fare
Three-time James Beard nominee Joel Viehland left the venerated Community Table, where he had been executive chef since 2010, to begin his own venture. In May, he opened The Pine Leaf Café, in a white cottage, along the banks of the Aspetuck River.
Viehland treats his patrons to made-to-order seasonal breakfast and lunch fare (soups, salads, sandwiches, and paninis). In keeping with his ethos, ingredients are organic and locally sourced. Seasonally, the café offers outdoor seating. He plans to open a 70-seat restaurant in Kent, specializing in craft beer, wood-fired pizza, and shared plates, scheduled to launch spring 2017.
