The Art of It: Familiar Paths
Liz Albert Fay's mixed media sculptures
Liz AlPert Fay’s mixed media sculptures feature found objects combined with pieces of her own textiles. “My inspiration in creating these pieces is drawn both from the beauty of these collected objects as well as the desire to rescue, preserve, and give them a new life,” she says. Kimberly Day Proctor, photographer and painter, created an exhibition of photographs, “Vine and Stone,” reflecting the interaction of time, plant growth, and architecture. Their works was on display at the Minor Memorial Library in Roxbury. The sculpture above, by Liz Alpert Fay, is titled “Fish or Fowl,” and was created using reclaimed metal, wood, and sewing fasteners, vintage fishing lures, hat trims, and wire beads—encased in a UV acrylic box.
