The Katonah Show

The little town of Katonah has really got it all. Because it's so jammed packed with various stores, offering an array of necessities, one might never need to leave...

Born and Thread

Living in Fairfield and elsewhere, Mitchell family members gather not at home but at company headquarters in Westport. The generations have managed to turn a small clothing shop into a nationally respected fashion business—and have kept it all in the family.

A Formal Affair

We invited five notable locals to dress up with clothing from Fairfield shops, then led them to an elegant Sasco Hill setting for some fun.

Ladies Who Lunch

Wilton women, spanning the generations, model fall fashions from their favorite local shops—b chic, Chou Chou, Open House, Sea Beans, Snappy Gator, Une Minette, and Witchy-Poo—while dining at their favorite eateries.

Cream of the Crop

We invited five notables to dress up with local clothing and check out what delectables Ridgefield has to offer.

Village Threads

We invited seven notable locals to a glorious Roxbury estate, brought fall clothing from area shops, and let the photo shoot unroll. The classics, we learn, are making a mighty comeback. See for yourself.

Under the Wire

Author Bonni Brodnick takes a look at brassieres, their styles, washing techniques and her first experience with one. From the infinite styles and sizes, she notes there is a certain fascination with women's bosoms and brassieres not just for men but for women as well.

Ira Neimark

Ira Neimark started out as a Fifth Avenue doorman and eventually became CEO of Bergdorf Goodman—through hard work, smarts, and being in the right place at the right time. When he took over the venerable fashion store, it was doing $38 million in sales. When he left, $500 million. In an interview he reveals some tricks of the trade.

Saluting the General Store

Maureen and Clifford Jones are the co-owners of the Rooster Tail Inn on Warren’s Route 45. They have decided to reopen the Warren General Store across the street from the Inn and have done it with the same ease and sophistication that has made the Inn so popular.

Staying Power

Monique Shay Jr. at Monique Shay Antiques (Woodbury), Jonathan Derwin at R. Derwin Clothiers (Litchfield), and Amanda Seitz at J. Seitz & Co. (New Preston) are each in the process of stepping out of their parents’ shadows by taking prominent roles in their family’s retail enterprises. Their goal is to build on the sturdy foundations by injecting a youthful input into the businesses.

Dressing the Garden

Marvin Gardens and its sister store HM Oliver, Young’s Nursery and Earth Garden provide all the essentials for your garden decorating needs. Birdbaths, stone statues, antique columns and iron gates can be found at these outdoor specialty stores.
