In the Kitchen with Tracy Pollan
Michael J. Fox's famous wife has a new role as cookbook author with brother Michael Pollen
Some people may know Sharon, CT resident Tracy Pollan from the TV series Family Ties or the movie Bright Lights, Big City. To others she is the wife of Michael J. Fox. What people may not know is that Pollan is one of a family of foodies dedicated to healthy cooking and clean living. Her brother, Michael Pollan, has been outspoken about the evils of the food industry and the importance of eating whole foods his books The Omnivore’s Dilemma and In Defense of Food. Her mother, Corky, is a blogger for the Cooking Channel and a former editor of Gourmet Magazine. And her sisters, Dana and Lori, are co-founders of Manhattan’s Pollen-Austen Fitness Center.
Last fall saw the Pollan women teaming up on The Pollan Family Table: The Best Recipes and Kitchen Wisdom for Delicious, Healthy, Family Meals, which came out in October of 2014. The mother-daughter foursome of Corky, Tracy, Dana and Lori, (brother Michael shows up as writer of the foreword) released their debut cookbook to rave reviews, winning the Gourmand Award for Best New Cookbook. The Pollan’s invite readers into their home, sharing over 100 family recipes that highlight fresh, locally sourced ingredients to make food that is as healthy as it is delicious.
Growing up in a large family with parents that stressed the importance of eating well and eating together gave Tracy an understanding that good food and good company are meant to go hand in hand. Now, with four children of her own and the recently published cookbook, Tracy is passing on her wealth of knowledge, taking a leading role off-screen as an advocate for healthy eating.
