Part Italian specialty market, part restaurant
Located in Fairfield’s Heritage Square, the Italian Kitchen, part Italian specialty market, part restaurant/caterer, celebrates its three-year anniversary this September. “Whatever you can get on Arthur Avenue is now on your doorstep,” says co-owner Dominick Giresi, Sr.
Together with son Dominick Jr., the Giresis pride themselves on quality food, cleanliness, consistency, and most importantly, excellent service. Italian sausage, both fresh and dried, are made in-house, along with daily homemade batches of mozzarella, ricotta, fresh pastas, and a wide variety of prepared foods, including the best meatballs we’ve ever tasted. Fresh Italian bread is brought in each morning from Arthur Avenue’s Terranova Bakery, and is used for delicious Panini. The menu also features pastas, pizzas, and entrées including an excellent porchetta and eggplant parmigiano. “We buy everything fresh every day,” says Dominick Jr. “I use organic and locally grown whenever possible, and don’t cut corners,” he continues.
They cater events large and small, but also have a limited number of tables for dining in. The $25 prix fixe dinners with BYOB (and no corking fees) have become popular. You can even book dinners with “add-ons” like a make-your-own fresh mozzarella class. For dessert, don’t miss the delicious homemade cannoli or almond biscotti.
