The Art of It: Depictions of Dance
Artistic representation of dance with Philip Trager
Philip Trager has been shown extensively throughout the world, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as in several influential books.
His work capturing the movement, the eroticism, and the evocativeness of dance, including this 1989 shot of the spiraling Arthur Aviles, will be on view at Fairfield University’s Thomas J. Walsh Gallery’s exhibit, “Dance: Marc Melon, Jane Sutherland, Philip Trager,” showing from September 17 through January 15.
The show explores the artistic representation of dance in three mediums: The sculpture of Mellon, paintings of Sutherland, and photography of Trager.
