Burger with a B
Plan B Burger Bar specializes on great food on a bun
The long-awaited Plan B Burger Bar opened its doors in the reclaimed Fairfield Post Office building in July and has been serving up specialty burgers, bourbon, and beer ever since. The artfully designed space features local reclaimed lumber accents, hand-painted murals of vintage Connecticut breweries, and a ceiling created from recycled wooden pallets. “This is only our second location in an historic building,” explains design and marketing manager Rachel Hurvitz. “We are always looking for ways to pull in the community to our spaces,” she continues.
The large bar is highlighted by wooden shelves designed to resemble a bourbon rickhouse and hold nearly 100 varieties of bourbon. There are also 14 rotating American craft beers on tap, including local favorites like Two Roads, Black Hog, and Stony Creek Breweries.
But what about the burgers? Despite having 20 different options, the most popular is one of the most simple: the mini cheeseburgers. The grass-fed, grain-finished beef used at Plan B is hormone and antibiotic-free and never frozen. In addition, the meat is ground fresh daily and every burger is hand-packed. The menu goes beyond burgers with entrées like lobster mac & cheese, and shepherd’s pie.
“Fairfield is a perfect match for this concept,” Hurvitz adds. “Casual but upscale.”
