New restaurant provides a haven for the health conscious
Fairfield just got a little healthier in 2015, with the opening of Freshii, the newest fast-casual eatery to hit town. “Fairfield is the ideal demographic for Freshii,” says owner John Blob. “It’s a health-conscious, active, lively community with not many options like this.” Blob started his career in finance, where he managed portfolios, which included restaurants as a focus. But he decided he wanted to own a restaurant of his own, and opened the Westport Freshii in October 2013. When space opened on the Post Road (adjacent to the Fairfield U Bookstore), he opened a second location. A two-month renovation resulted in an open, airy space, with bright green chairs and wall art featuring a fun, food-themed take on the Periodic Table of the Elements. Power up with one of the many chef-inspired selections like a Superbiotic Salad or customize your meal from over 70 add-ons. Even the soups are customizable (the house-made Spicy Lemongrass Broth is a fan favorite). Freshii serves breakfast, offering grilled breakfast burritos and egg pockets, organic slow-cooked oatmeal, and Greek yogurt parfaits (all customizable). Check out the reasonably priced cleanses (1, 3, or 5 days), which include four fresh juices and end each day with a Metaboost salad.
