New Haven Invasion
Geronimo Tequila Bar brings New Haven's finest Mexican fare to Fairfield
It seems as if the best of New Haven is taking up residence in Fairfield. First Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana chose Fairfield as its very first outpost. Next, Anna Liffey’s Irish Pub opened in the former Skybox space on the Post Road. Now, Geronimo Tequila Bar and Grill has joined the ranks in town, and business is booming. The beautifully redesigned space is unrecognizable from its former incarnation as The Shack. The southwestern themed restaurant has a downtown feel and an adult vibe.
For starters, there are over 400 tequilas and a full menu of margaritas and other unique cocktails from which to choose, available by the glass or the pitcher (try the Cucumber-Strawberry Margarita or the Appaloosa Sangria). The menu boasts dishes not found elsewhere in our area, such as Elk Chili, Navajo Frybread (you’ll love the variety topped with chorizo and figs), and succulent braised Pork Pibil which comes laced with tequila. You’ll want to start with the house-made chips and fresh guacamole, made tableside. If you’re feeling indulgent, you can even add lump crab meat, lobster or applewood smoked bacon to the mix. Don’t miss the “Scorpion Booth” where you can watch live scorpions crawl beneath your plates while you eat. Open for dinner daily, and lunch beginning in spring.
