Little Barn, Big Taste
The Little Barn is a bustling neighborhood pub
Little Barn, a bustling neighborhood pub serving creative, casual fare, opened in 2013 in the building that once housed Swanky Frank’s. “The gambrel shape of the roof is really what led to the idea of the barn,” says co-owner Scott Beck, who also owns The Chelsea (Fairfield) and The Loft (Sono). He loved the idea of a “pub inside a barn” and set out to source materials for the renovation, including reclaimed barn panels from Montana and the corrugated metal roof from Illinois. A double fieldstone fireplace, outdoor patio, completes the space and invites relaxation. “It feels very airy and summery in the warm months and then really cozy and warm in the winter,” says Peck.
The menu is at once, both homey and modern. “It’s a great mix of casual comfort items like burgers, tacos, and chicken pot pies, expertly made by our Chef/Partner Jeff Spence, plus healthy alternatives. Make a meal of small plates like Jalapeno Poppers or the Thai Chicken Lettuce Cups, or head right for the entrees like Steak Frites or ale-battered Fish ‘n Chips. Creative cocktails including fan favorite, Black Rock Lemonade, and the excellent Cucumber Martini are not to be missed. There are also mouthwatering desserts like Fried Cookie Dough, and a kids’ menu for your “half pints.”
