The Wood Brothers Fri, 05/18/2012 - 8:00pm With Special Guest Scrapomatic Featuring Mike Mattison from the Derek Trucks Band The Doyle Coffin Architecture Singer Songwriter Series Underwritten by The Tow Family Returning to The Ridgefield Playhouse, The Wood Brothers are musician siblings Chris and Oliver Wood from Boulder, Colorado. Chris is a founding member of Medeski Martin & Wood, and Oliver played second guitar with Tinsley Ellis before forming King Johnson. They adapted the blues, folk and other roots‐music sounds they loved as kids into their own evocative sound and twining their voices in the sort of high‐lonesome harmony blend for which sibling singers are often renowned. Their musical chemistry has never felt more profound. Oliver Wood (guitar, vocals) and Chris Wood (bass, vocals, harmonica) refine their rich, spacious sound on songs like the rousing opener “Mary Anna,” the back‐porch‐funky “Shoofly Pie,” the waltz‐time plaint “Pay Attention,” the elegiac title track, the gospel‐inflected “Made It Up the Mountain” and more. Restaurant Sponsor: Cellar Door: Enjoy a FREE glass of wine at dinner before the show with your tickets AND after the show receive $1 off drinks with your ticket stub! |
