Little Town of Bethlehem

Little Town of Bethlehem

"Christmas! The very word brings joy to our hearts. No matter how we may dread the rush, the long Christmas lists for gifts and cards to be bought and given -- when Christmas Day comes there is still the same warm feeling we had as children, the same warmth that enfolds our hearts and our homes."               --Joan Winmill Brown

With each passing year, Christmas seems to be gone even before it came; events like the Bethlehem Christmas Town Festival offer the chance to create lasting memories while cherishing what truly makes Christmas special: Cozying up with the good company of family and loved ones. The brightest star in sky beckons you and yours to Bethlehem for the annual Festival, which has become a tradition in its own right. Don't worry--the journey to our very own peaceful Christmas village is short; you'll still have time to wrap, tape, bake, and mail all your good wishes.

The 33rd Annual Festival, to be held Friday, Dec. 6th from 5:00 - 10: 00 PM and Saturday, Dec. 7th from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, rekindles the joy of old-fashioned holiday spirit, and reminds us of the value tradition holds. Located on the Bethlehem town green, the festival is surrounded by buildings and churches that will be decorated, brightly lit, and abuzz with activity from over seventy holiday crafters and artisans. Many treasures, all hoping to fill a space underneath your tree, will be offered for your perusal. The plethora of lights, strung from every tree and rooftop, will serve to remind you of your many blessings; the smell of good food will warm your fingertips and fill your senses.

Bethlehem's gorgeous, seventy-five foot tall Christmas tree will be lit by Santa Claus himself, accompanied by festive music performed by local talent, during the festival's opening ceremony (beginning Friday, 6:00 PM). Afterward, Santa will be available to meet children, listen to Christmas wishes, and take pictures. Additionally, holiday hayrides and live Christmas music performances will entertain guests.

The Bethlehem Post Office will operate under special extended hours during the festival as part of a time-honored, beloved tradition. Join the thousands of visitors who come each year to the famous Bethlehem post office to make certain their cards bear a Bethlehem postmark, and to hand-stamp the envelopes with special Bethlehem holiday stamps.

Don't forget to stop by Town Hall to purchase this year's limited edition, pewter Christmas Town Festival ornament. These keepsakes have become highly collectible, and sell out every single year!

Admission to the festival is free; free shuttle bus service is provided from the parking area at the Bethlehem Fairgrounds on Rt. 61, which has ample parking for tour buses. Parking in town during the festival is by permit only.
