Goshen Stampede – Taking Litchfield County to the Rodeo

Goshen Stampede – Taking Litchfield County to the Rodeo

For the past 6 years, Goshen, Connecticut has been home to the Goshen Stampede, a 3-day weekend filled with rodeos, demolition derbies, and fireworks. The Goshen Stampede is one of the most popular events in Connecticut every year, and this year appears to be no exception. The Goshen Stampede is back and better than ever, with a portion of this years profits going to local and regional charities, and national organizations that support the men and women of the armed forces.

The Goshen Fair Grounds, sure to be teeming with visitors, will have 3 days of adrenaline-pumping activities and you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it events planned for those who stop by. The Goshen Stampede is determined to make everything bigger and better this year, and in order to do so, they are pulling out all the stops and hitting the ground running when the event begins on June 15th.

Each day is filled with similar insanity, ranging from RC Nitro Car Racing, to live bands, to horse racing, and even demolition derbies. Even though this appears to be primarily for adults, there are numerous opportunities for the kids to get involved too, so long as they are willing to take a few risks and get their blood pumping! The Goshen Stampede offers free petting zoos, and a couple of small activities/events, but the favorite by far is the Kids Rodeo. Each year, kids ages 12 and under can register and ride on large but docile sheep. The winner receives a trophy and title of champion…until next year’s rodeo where they can compete for it again.

These three chaotic days of family fun begin on June 15th and end on June 17th. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for children (10-18), and free for any veteran or active duty military personnel with valid I.D. This is the “country” event of the year for residents of Connecticut, so make sure you buy your tickets and put it on your calendars!
