Op Hope’s Annual Tag Sale
Looking for something to do this weekend? You, my friend, are in luck. Operation Hope’s Annual Tag Sale will be held at the First Church Congregational on Old Post Road on Saturday, August 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 3rd from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. From furniture to household goods to jewelry to sporting goods, they have it all.
There is a $1.00 admissions fee. All proceeds will support Operation Hope’s community programs.
Years ago, the event originally took place at Wakeman Boys & Girls Club in Southport at the end of August. But lots of folks tend to skip town in August, so moving the date up seemed like a good idea. Now, they hold their sale at the church next to their headquarters here in town. Makes setting up all the donations they receive a whole lot easier.
Got a few items you’d like to donate? No problem. You can drop them off starting Monday, July 28th through Thursday, July 31st. Drop off times on those days run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. They will accept all kinds of furniture, household goods, jewelry, linens, pictures and paintings, toys, gaming systems, and outdoor and sporting goods. Please make sure that all of your items are in good condition.
They will not accept bedding, clothing, televisions, computers or monitors, shoes or books. So if you were planning on swinging by with a television circa 1997, an iMac, your collection of Hardy Boys mysteries, and an old mattress, you may want to reconsider venues.
If you’d like to help volunteer, they would love to hear from you. They need people to accept donations the week before, to help during the event, and then to clean up afterward. Contact Donna Schmidt, Manager of Volunteer Services at email@example.com. If you have a question or concern about whether a particular item is worthy of donation, contact the staff at Operation Hope at 203-292-5588.
