The Fairfield Public Library will host its internationally acclaimed trio-in-residence, “The Lions Gate Trio,” for a fall chamber music concert on Sunday, September 30 at 3 pm.  The trio, pianist Florence Millet, violinist Katie Lansdale and cellist Darrett Adkins, will perform selections from Ludwig van Beethoven, Trio Opus 1, no. 2, Maurice Ravel’s Trio and Rebecca Clarke’s Trio. The concert will be held in the Memorial Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.

The Lions Gate Trio enjoys a combination of performing (nationally and internationally), recording, and working with young musicians in educational settings.  Currently the trio-in-residence at the Hartt School (University of Hartford) and the Fairfield Public Library, Lions Gate has had previous residencies at Yale University, Tanglewood and the University of Pittsburgh.

The Library is fortunate to host this accomplished chamber music trio each spring and fall through the generosity of the Friends of the Fairfield Public Library. The Friends have graciously underwritten the Soundwaves concerts each year, as well as the reception that follows – an opportunity to meet the artists and enjoy some light refreshments.

All programs at the Fairfield Public Library are free. Early registration is recommended as seating is limited. Register online at www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org or for more information call 203-256-3160.

About This Blog

Fairfield is a quaint little shore town tucked along the Gold Coast of the Long Island Sound. In 2006, Money Magazine rated the town as the ninth best place to live in the United States and the best place to live in the Northeast. We are a thriving community of active residents who walk, bike, hike, and run. And for our canine friends, it's a dog's life at the beaches and the hiking trails at Lake Mohegan. It is a great place for families and, with two major universities, it is a great place for students both young and old. With two epicenters of commerce on Post Road and Black Rock Turnpike, there is a range of shopping opportunities from major chains to Mom and Pop shops. Looking for a fun night out? Park your car in the center of town and the world is your oyster! See a concert at the Fairfield Theatre Company. Catch a movie at the Community Theater. Grab a bite to eat or a quick drink at any of the amazing restaurants peppered along the main drag. This blog celebrates all the things that are happening around town. Stop by and come see what all the fuss is about.
