Second Annual Eco-Kid Bash in Bridgeport
Think Earth Day can only be celebrated in April? Not so, says Gumdrop Swap and Pryceless Consulting. The two Bridgeport businesses are working together for the second year in a row to host an eco-friendly educational event on Saturday, May 19th in the Arcade Mall at 1001 Main Street from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The co-hosts said they knew they had to make this an annual event when over 200 people came out to the Eco-Kid Bash last year in the pouring rain. They also wanted to make it clear that the purpose of this event is to create awareness on local green initiatives and to engage the community on sustainable behavior by providing engaging activities and useful information.
Kids can learn about nature, have fun with arts and crafts activities, and plant a seed to take home. But dress accordingly, some activities can be messy!
Gumdrop Swap has its own take on being green. They offer the opportunity for moms and moms-to-be to get maternity and children’s clothing at rock-bottom prices. Or, you can drop off your new or gently used clothing and accessories in exchange for “gumdrops” that function as credit while you shop. They take all seasons and all brands.
Pryceless Consulting is the place to go for all your sustainable marketing needs. Whether it’s event planning or utilizing social media, their focus is on the small business owner. Formed by owner Natalie Pryce, the company’s mission statement makes it very clear what they’re all about: “Sustainability is no longer a choice but a matter of global, economic, and social responsibility; the question is how we are going to build communities that are ready and willing to take on that responsibility.”
Both companies came together to kick off this event last year and feel strongly about continuing the tradition. For eco-conscious pedestrians, the Arcade Mall is only about one block away from the Bridgeport bus and train lines. This community event is free and open to the public.
