FTC Names New Artistic Director
If it wasn’t enough that ska revival band English Beat is sold out for their January 28th appearance at the Fairfield Theatre Company (FTC), they’ve just named John Reid as their new Producing Artistic Director.
Taking over for FTC Founder Miles Marek who stepped down from the position last November, Reid is not unfamiliar with the theatre world. He was the Producer for New York City’s renowned Roundabout Theatre’s Conservatory and Ensemble Company. He has produced and performed in plays and television commercials as well as possessing musical talents as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter.
But wait, there’s more. He also has extensive experience working in non-profits such as CARE, World Vision, Families First, Childhelp, and the Hole in the Wall Foundation, founded by the late Paul Newman.
"When I began talking to FTC, I quickly realized this would be a fantastic fit for me, given my background in not-for-profit leadership, music, and theatre," said Reid in a company press release. "I could not be more thrilled by the opportunity to help lead this wonderful organization into the future."
Reid also holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Washington. He came to Connecticut from Arizona, having worked and taught at Arizona State University.
