Drive-In Movie Night

Drive-In Movie Night

Looking for something to do with the kids this coming weekend? Head over to the parking lot at Trinity Episcopal Church for that old-time drive-in movie experience. On Saturday, August 25th starting at 7:30 p.m., they will be showing the classic, award-winning E.T.--Extra Terrestrial.

Refreshments will be available. Residents of Fairfield, Southport, and the surrounding area are welcome to attend. No affiliation with the church is required.

A feel-good flick for kids of all ages, the film was a blockbuster hit when it first debuted in 1982. Since then, it has continued to warm the hearts of all film-goers with its portrayal of childhood curiosity mixed with the excitement of science fiction. Roger Ebert says the movie is "like The Wizard of Oz that you can grow up with and grow old with, and it won't let you down." He calls it "wickedly funny" and "exciting as hell."

“We are delighted to host this wonderful movie for all our friends and neighbors,” said The Rev. Nicholas T. Porter Rector of Trinity Church. “We see this event as a rare opportunity for community togetherness and entertainment on a nice evening outdoors, before the Summer fades. Come one, come all.”

The movie night is Trinity Church's initiative to reach out to and welcome the larger community. It is part of their broader "Sound and Vision" events plan. They will also be hosting a champagne tasting as well as a community silent auction later in the year.

About This Blog

Fairfield is a quaint little shore town tucked along the Gold Coast of the Long Island Sound. In 2006, Money Magazine rated the town as the ninth best place to live in the United States and the best place to live in the Northeast. We are a thriving community of active residents who walk, bike, hike, and run. And for our canine friends, it's a dog's life at the beaches and the hiking trails at Lake Mohegan. It is a great place for families and, with two major universities, it is a great place for students both young and old. With two epicenters of commerce on Post Road and Black Rock Turnpike, there is a range of shopping opportunities from major chains to Mom and Pop shops. Looking for a fun night out? Park your car in the center of town and the world is your oyster! See a concert at the Fairfield Theatre Company. Catch a movie at the Community Theater. Grab a bite to eat or a quick drink at any of the amazing restaurants peppered along the main drag. This blog celebrates all the things that are happening around town. Stop by and come see what all the fuss is about.
