Who doesn’t have fond memories of “Rock Lobster” and “Love Shack?” Get your groove on with the B-52s on August 7th. Call them New Wave, punk rock, or dance pop, they rock the house and FTC’s got ‘em.

Rolling Stone magazine covered part of their new tour in February. Even after 35 years in the industry, they’ve still got it going on. “Schneider's speaksinging delivery, one of the most recognizable in all of pop music, still sounds great. Kate Pierson's pipes are stunning despite three-and-a-half decades of wear, and Wilson and Strickland strut like it's the Seventies.”

The group started out in 1976. After a few too many drinks at a Chinese restaurant and an impromptu jam session, a band was born. They gained underground buzz—dubbing themselves in honor of the beehive hairdo—and continued to grow with their funky, offbeat music and style.

Formed by Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, and Cindy Wilson in Athens, GA, their positive, enthusiastic, slightly oddball party band vibe have been a huge influence for other pop bands. Their “guy vs. gals" call-and-response-type vocals have been their trademark.

Keeping the dream alive, their most recent studio album, Funplex, as well as the just-released live album With the Wild Crowd: Live in Athens, capture their almost invincible sense of fun, performance power and ‘60s high-wig energy.

Tickets went on sale a few days ago. But you better get them in a hurry because this concert will be sold out soon. No need to sleep out in a tent for this one. Just a click online will do the trick.

About This Blog

Fairfield is a quaint little shore town tucked along the Gold Coast of the Long Island Sound. In 2006, Money Magazine rated the town as the ninth best place to live in the United States and the best place to live in the Northeast. We are a thriving community of active residents who walk, bike, hike, and run. And for our canine friends, it's a dog's life at the beaches and the hiking trails at Lake Mohegan. It is a great place for families and, with two major universities, it is a great place for students both young and old. With two epicenters of commerce on Post Road and Black Rock Turnpike, there is a range of shopping opportunities from major chains to Mom and Pop shops. Looking for a fun night out? Park your car in the center of town and the world is your oyster! See a concert at the Fairfield Theatre Company. Catch a movie at the Community Theater. Grab a bite to eat or a quick drink at any of the amazing restaurants peppered along the main drag. This blog celebrates all the things that are happening around town. Stop by and come see what all the fuss is about.
