An Apple A Day…
As the saying goes, avoiding a doctor’s visit depends on the hand-held fruit you eat. So why not spend a crisp, fall afternoon picking apples? It’s a fun family activity and now’s the time to do it! Check the listings, some of the orchards have dwarf trees which means it’s easier picking for the little ones.
Many of the farms in the area offer pumpkin picking and hayrides as well. Now that it’s October, why not kill two birds with one stone? Make a day of it picking everything in sight!
All of the farms listed are within a 20-mile radius of Fairfield. But if you’re looking to do a little leaf peeking while you’re at it and don’t mind a longer drive, visit Pick Your Own and Orange Pippin online for more comprehensive information. Orchards are separated by region or simply listed alphabetically.
A side note, some farms don’t allow pets. So check their web sites first to avoid leaving Fluffy in the car.
