Adventure Park Grand Opening at Discovery Museum

Ready, set, go! If you’ve ever wanted to try zip lining, now’s your chance. A new adventure park has opened at the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport. On Monday, July 16th, there will be an official ribbon cutting and opening ceremony to commemorate Connecticut’s first zip line “aerial forest ropes park.”
Constructed of cables, wood, and ropes, the park is laid out over five acres with 110 different platforms behind the Discovery Museum building. Each participant will have to climb to the different platforms to zip line to the next bridge area. Talk about a work out!
Best of all, it’s fun for all ages and ability levels. There are beginner, intermediate, and expert trails to follow. So, no worries if you’ve never done this before. You can start slow and work your way up. Guides are on-hand to help you out if you have any questions.
Looking for a company team building activity or something for the entire family to enjoy? No problem. They have group rates, but reservations must be made in advance. General admission to the park is $49 for those 12 and older. Kids 10 to 11 are $44 and kids 7 to 9 are $39. Tickets are good for three hours.
The park was planned, designed and built by Outdoor Ventures Group. Based in Southport and established in 2008, the company bases its course design on zip line parks in Switzerland. They also have two other parks with a similar design in Sandy Springs, MD and Hillsdale, NY. All platforms and connecting cables are at least 10 feet off the ground and all of the construction is done with as minimal an impact to the surrounding environment as possible.
During the summer, the park is open from 9:00 a.m. until dusk, seven days a week. In the fall and spring, they are open every weekend and some holidays from September through November from 9:00 a.m. until dusk.
