A Little BBQ action at FTC

A Little BBQ action at FTC

Come on down to the Fairfield Theatre Company (FTC) for a little lunchtime barbecue! They’re having an open house with live music, a drum circle, and fun for the whole family on Saturday, June 30th.

Get your sunglasses and sunscreen ready as FTC hosts their Backlot BBQ outside StageOne on Sanford Street, celebrating the first year of music education for Bridgeport music students. Grab a cool beverage, have a burger or a dog as you listen to the music of the FTC Saturday Kids’ students and teachers. Other musical guests include Rick Reyes, lead guitarist and singer of the local Latin band the Cosmic Jibaros and master drummer Brother Kojo Bey from Sounds of Afrika who will run a drum circle. The drum circle is open to all ages and levels, bring your drum and extra African drums and instruments will be provided.

Since September of 2011 FTC in partnership with KEYS (Kids Empowered by Your Support), has provided one-to-one piano instruction for students age 6 to 16 from a variety of Bridgeport Public Elementary and Middle Schools including Christian Heritage, Housatonic, Masuk High School, Central High School, Beardsley, Marin, Columbus, Johnson, Discovery Magnet, Roosevelt, Multi-Cultural Magnet, High Horizons Magnet, Blackham.

In addition a team of volunteers made up from high school seniors from Fairfield Prep, Fairfield Ludlowe, Staples High School in Westport, the Talent Education Suzuki School in Norwalk and The Beacon School in Greenwich.

Come inside and see the inner workings of the busiest entertainment venue in southern Connecticut.  See videos of the top live acts FTC has had on StageOne over the past few months, view FTC’s gallery of photographs by house photographer Mike Thut. Make your way backstage and learn what it takes to put on a show at FTC from viewing actual stage plots to running the production room, sound and lights. Pretend you are a Rock and Roll performer as you relax in the green room where the nation’s top musical artists have relaxed before and after a show. But that’s not all, take a moment to view FTC’s gallery of posters of performers who have performed at StageOne and The Klein since its beginning in 2004.

Picnic tables will be set up outside, cold drinks and food will be available.

Fairfield Theatre Company presents nearly 200 performances and concerts each year featuring outstanding national talent on FTC’s StageOne in Fairfield and at The Klein Auditorium in Bridgeport.

For more information about upcoming events at FTC, visit them online at fairfieldtheatre.org or call the box office at 203-259-1036.

About This Blog

Fairfield is a quaint little shore town tucked along the Gold Coast of the Long Island Sound. In 2006, Money Magazine rated the town as the ninth best place to live in the United States and the best place to live in the Northeast. We are a thriving community of active residents who walk, bike, hike, and run. And for our canine friends, it's a dog's life at the beaches and the hiking trails at Lake Mohegan. It is a great place for families and, with two major universities, it is a great place for students both young and old. With two epicenters of commerce on Post Road and Black Rock Turnpike, there is a range of shopping opportunities from major chains to Mom and Pop shops. Looking for a fun night out? Park your car in the center of town and the world is your oyster! See a concert at the Fairfield Theatre Company. Catch a movie at the Community Theater. Grab a bite to eat or a quick drink at any of the amazing restaurants peppered along the main drag. This blog celebrates all the things that are happening around town. Stop by and come see what all the fuss is about.
