Top Five Places to Grab an Icy Treat to Beat the Summer Heat

Top Five Places to Grab an Icy Treat to Beat the Summer Heat

Children eating ice cream at La Tulipe Desserts.

It's been hot lately; the summer heat is kicking in and you're probably wondering: where can I go to cool off and grab an ice cream, gelato, or frozen yogurt nearby in Westchester? We've got you covered!

Here's a list of the top five non-commercial places to grab a frozen treat:

5. King Kone--Katonah, NY

Located on the corner of Route 100 and Route 35 is the kid-friendly ice cream parlor (and trust me you will have no trouble finding it--you can't miss the king size "King Kone" sign outside the parlor). There are all kinds of colorful murals inside King Kone which create a fun atmosphere and you can enjoy your ice cream at the outside picnic tables. And did we mention the ice cream is delicious?

4. Blind Charlie's Cafe--Pound Ridge, NY

In the middle of the quiet town of Pound Ridge across from the town fountain you will find Blind Charlie's cafe. Open during the day, this cafe serves a small variety of different ice cream flavors. You can go outside and enjoy your refreshing snack and take in the beauty of this small town.

3. Treat--Cross River, NY

Treat serves frozen yogurt (which is great for those of us who are not looking to loosen our belts this summer). There are a variety of different kinds of froyo and the taste and presentation is outrageous. There are all different kinds of berry, fruit, and sugary toppings to adorn your yogurt to enhance your snacking experience.

2. La Tulipe Desserts--Mount Kisco, NY

Known for its baked goods, La Tulipe Desserts also serves fresh home-made gelato in its elegant bake shop. You can grab a nice cone of creamy gelato and go for a pleasant walk around the town of Mount Kisco and look at the shop windows.

1.    Via Vanti!--Mount Kisco, NY

This cafe offers some of the best gelato around. Owned by a native Italian, you know the gelato served here has to be good! There are over 18 different flavors and the taste is outrageously good. The atmosphere is fun and there are always events going on in the cafe. It's the perfect balance of indulgence, entertainment, and atmosphere.

So now that you know the best of the best in the area for frozen delights, go out and try them all! Each one is tasty and delicious. You can be sure you will keep cool as this summer starts to heat up.
