And the winners are...

And the winners are...

When the world turns its attention to the Academy Awards ceremony on February 26, Bedfordites will be focusing in on a few categories in particular. Four locals have been nominated for Oscars this year—two of them for the same golden statue. Rooney Mara, a Fox Lane graduate, was nominated for Actress in a Leading Role for her fabulous portrayal of Lisbeth Salander, the punk hacker and crime solver in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Also in that field is the talented Glenn Close, in her gender-bending performance in Albert Nobbs. It’s her sixth nomination. Joe Berlinger was nominated for Documentary Feature for Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory. Filmmaker James Spione was nominated for Documentary Short for his Incident in New Baghdad, produced here in Katonah. And of course there is Peter Linz (recently featured in our pages), though not himself nominated, he starred in the Muppet movie, which has a musical nomination.

About This Blog

There’s a certain understated elegance that manifests itself in many aspects of Bedford life: the generously zoned properties, the classic and muted architecture, the miles of stonewalls, the equestrian life, the gently winding roads, the artifacts of history, the serenity of the village. There is a sense Bedford has always been this way. There is a permanence to it. There’s a beauty to it. Bedford is authentic, and Bedford is fun. This blog is part of the action.
