Room to Play
The growing activity of "Escape Room" puzzles
Looking for a challenge?
Justin Clairmont, a recent MCLA business grad who hails from Cheshire, has just opened the area’s first “escape room.” Get Out Mindgames, on East Street in Pittsfield, is a single room, presented as a puzzle that players (maximum eight) have to solve within an hour.
Players are given a goal to accomplish depending on the theme of the room. Its current challenge is described like this on its website: “During a tour of the Futoratec Laboratory, you are exposed to a deadly contagion. Can you find the cure and escape the quarantine before your time runs out?”
The game lasts about an hour and encourages the use of all five senses. It’s already so popular that Clairmont is opening another room next door. getoutmindgames.com
