A Country Fair
Simple, practical, easily adaptable. Those are all words to describe Shaker architecture and furniture, celebrated by locals and visitors alike at the historic Hancock Shaker Village. Their iconic round barn is home each spring to a variety of baby animals and their rich fields provide fresh organic produce for a popular CSA program from June to October.
The Village is all geared up for its annual Country Fair on September 26 and 27, 2015 an all-inclusive celebration for craft and food lovers alike. “Country Fair is special because there’s nothing plastic or artificial about it. Everything is real, authentic and that’s revealed in how things look, smell, feel, and the general atmosphere here in the historic Village,” says Shawn Hartley Hancock, marketing director at Hancock Shaker Village. Vendors will offer a wide variety of handmade goods. There will also be live Shaker music and dance; tours of the brick dwelling, farm and garden; woodworking, spinning and weaving demos; and children’s activities. New to the fair is the Food Truck Rodeo, so come with an appetite.
Before the Country Fair kicks off, the new Harvest of Quilts show opens a day earlier on Friday, September 25. Mention you are a quilt lover at the ticket desk and receive a $5 discount on admission.
