Methuselah has an impressive drink list and menu
Sojourners to the Berkshires are charmed by the quiet, snowy landscape that envelopes the hills. But not everyone is endeared to the lodge-y aura of a rural winter. Sometimes solace can only be found at the bottom of a glass. A trendy glass, that is. Filled with warming, single-barrel Kentucky bourbon. Or a Bonarda from Argentina. Served up in a NYC-style bar, where industrial lighting and body heat provide warmth and meaning and a break from hokey soup and holiday wreaths.
METHUSELAH on Pittsfield’s ever-growing North Street has an impressive drink list that includes the usual suspects—red, white, sparkling—as well as a meaty draft-beer selection with off-the-beaten path picks (Southampton Bière de Mars, Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin, Pretty Things Baby Tree). The naughty list continues with signature cocktails, serious tequila, and a whiskey selection that would make Hemingway weep.
A thirsty body is also a hungry body. Don’t let the menu headings—nibble, nosh, charcuterie, sweets—fool you into thinking you might leave that lovely, muted lounge with an empty belly. Tacos of all varieties, fat puff pastries, cheese plates, and sandwiches encourage a longer stay before heading into the wintry night.
