An Oasis for the Senses
The cozy café, Elixir, is rich in nourishing fare
Nancy Lee is the kind of woman who just knows what a person needs. Which is why it’s a wonderful thing that she is the healer in charge at ELIXIR, tucked away next to the Triplex Cinema on Railroad Street in Great Barrington. The cozy café is laden with collections of all sorts: drying herbs (from her garden, of course), jars of tinctures, a cart brimming with bright tea cups collected over the years.
The changing menu is rich in nourishing fare like jasmine-curried rice, marinated tempeh, creamy hummus and veggies, and soups of all kinds. Recently, Lee has extended the curative offerings to include savories and sweets—miso soup, sea salad, black-bean dip, to-die-for desserts made with lavender and honey and fresh whipped cream—with a full tea service. Rumor has it, the alchemy will be available to early risers looking for a pot of porridge to chase away the blahs.
