What style of jewelry is trending in Bedford this fall?
Casey Carter, a local expert on trends and proprietor of Bijou in Katonah, says, “It’s all about opals!”—this season’s must-have gem. He advises rose gold remains “hot, hot, hot,” along with layered, finely wrought necklaces and statement earrings. Also hot? 90s-style silver. “And rings on every finger and, of course, a great pair of hoops.”
Pound Ridger Amy Fine of amyfinedesign.etsy.com says the choker is back big time. “Skinny, wide, metal, leather, it’s showing up on every runway in every style.” Fine’s favorite is a metal-studded fabric choker she discovered in Barcelona. “We offer it in the fall neutrals, which are cream and gray.” She loves the bold statement necklaces worn by Countess Luann DeLesseps on the “Real Housewives of NYC,” and her favorite gemstones this season are amethyst, turquoise, ruby, garnet and tourmaline. “But my best sellers are always dainty stuff. And pearls are always correct.”
Allison Walker McReddie of Jewel Corner in Bedford Village says classics, like pearl studs in large sizes (8-10 mm), never go out of style. She also suggests lariat necklaces and tiers of Chan Luu. “The ones with silver or gold and stones with leather worn layered will give you that perfect Boho style.” Vogue forecasts layered long pearls, duster earrings, chokers, and charms. They’re all for brooches, too, which is an old-fashioned style. “A brooch is great,” Carter says. “But be careful not to age yourself. Place it on a jean jacket or somewhere unexpected, like the waist of a dress.”
