Drink Local, Locally
Your town bars and restaurants are committed to sourcing their spirits locally.
We’ve heard a lot about eating and buying locally, but what about drinking locally? You may be surprised how committed Bedford area restaurants are to the trend. At The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges, every beer save one was brewed in New York. Spirits drinkers can choose from Hudson Whiskey or Beacon American Whiskey, both made with local New York corn and grain.
Winston in Mt. Kisco features ten New York beers and ciders, Indigenous apple vodka made with Hudson Valley apples, and rooftop Wednesday events serve up local craft beer and whiskeys.
Bedford 234 assigns two tap selections to the Hudson Valley—Newburgh Cream Ale and Yonkers Pale Ale; while bourbon fans can order Taconic Straight, or three choices from Hillrock Estate, a rare ‘field-to glass’ producer that grows their own grain and distills, ages, and bottles their whiskeys on site in Ancram, New York.
Other local heroes include Captain Lawrence Pale Ale at Northstar; Mother’s Milk stout from Keegan’s Ales at Willy Nicks; and Truck has infused its tequila-heavy bar menu with Captain Lawrence on tap and the Bedford cocktail, a local take on the Manhattan made with Hudson Baby Bourbon. Cheers!
