Dancing Till Dawn
The Bedford Historical Society Centennial Ball––May 21
Bedford Historical Society’s Centennial Ball takes as its prototype Oxford and Cambridge May Balls—lavish, white-tie affairs held in late May to celebrate the end of the academic year. Set outdoors on the verdant quadrangles of England’s storied colleges, the revelers are surrounded by magnificent historic architecture as cutting-edge musical performances and avant-garde, circus-like sideshows take place in cloistered outdoor rooms.
On May 21, the Bedford Historical Society will kick off its Centennial Ball with a champagne stroll at 6:30 pm, enabling guests to experience the ‘outdoor room’ that is Bedford Village without cars! Champagne bars, set up near the Courthouse and the Post Office, will serve guests as they peruse “Outside the Box,” a brand new, outdoor photo exhibit. BHS Board member Tricia Swift and her team from Tangram will light the facades of all BHS buildings in bold brilliant color throughout the night.
All the Village bells will chime in unison at 7:30 signaling the move to the Green, where a fabulous dinner by Bedford resident and James Beard Award-winning chef Rafael Palomino will be served. Dancing to live music by the Hal Prince band will continue until midnight.
Proceeds from the event will support the work of the Society. For more information and to purchase tickets, log onto bedfordhistoricalsociety.org or call 914-234-9751.
