Bedford 234 has a new take on sophisticated, farm-to-table food
Nestled beside the Bedford Playhouse, Bedford 234 offers a brand new take on sophisticated, farm-to-table comfort food. Longtime Bedford residents Mitchell and Lynn Samberg dreamt up the concept of a place where regulars would return again and again, drawn in by a tantalizing menu.
To create such temptations, the Sambergs tapped Chef Tom McAliney, formerly of the Iron Horse Grill in Pleasantville, giving him suggestions of dishes they’d enjoyed on travels around the world with their children. McAliney has since developed an eclectic menu that offers everything from starters like Lobster Knuckle “Escargot” on Texas Toast and Hand-chopped Tuna Tartare to soups, salads, pasta, pizza, and full entrées.
Among the entrées, some early favorites are Truman’s Short Ribs, Pistachio-crusted Salmon & Farro Salad, and the Lamb Kebab Platter. Some extraordinary side items include Deviled Eggs With Fried Oysters, Poutine, and Avocado Fries. Desserts are made in-house daily.
The interior of Bedford 234 has been re-imagined by Lynn Samberg whose design was inspired by barns and lodges—“anything I want to live in or visit will be woven in here,” says the Indiana native whose enthusiastic, friendly nature makes every guest feel welcome.
