Bedford Shoutouts July-August 2017
This, that, and the other things
Northwind Kennels not only serves the Bedford community with great facilities and care, but it also fosters many pets and works with several local rescue centers to help find homes for animals in need. Adoption is relatively inexpensive, and when you take in a rescued pet, you are providing love to an animal in need. The big surprise is how much you will get back in return. The knowledgeable veterinary team at Northwind Kennels are there to help.
I found a wondrous new destination for all my vitamin, elixir, and essential oil needs, as well as those specialty items that I might not be able to find elsewhere. My favorite part is the juice bar tucked away in the back. Katonah Pharmacy bottles its fresh juices, which are made daily (feel free to call ahead with an order, if you are in a hurry). With seasonal ingredients and blends named “Katonah Woods” and “Old Deer Park,” the family-owned pharmacy keeps true to its roots. Stepping into Katonah Pharmacy and exploring all their goodies, will always keep a healthy lifestyle on the right track.
When you have small children, it’s often difficult to juggle getting in a good workout and finding childcare at the same time. But now Studio 22 in Mt. Kisco has solved that dilemma by offering a high-intensity, hybrid spin and sculpt class to help you shape your arms and abs as well as a childcare option ($15/child per session) during those time slots. How great is that? No more excuses for not finding time to exercise!
There’s no one better to tell you that the days of over-plucked eyebrows are long-gone than Sabria Celaj of Goldens Bridge, an expert with tweezers and, of course, a pro at creating perfect brows. Well-groomed brows are meant to frame the eyes and highlight your best features. In fact, strong brows can make you look put-together, especially on a makeup-free day. I found out firsthand where I was over-plucking, and Sabria is guiding me back to my naturally bushy brows.
Mt. Kisco-based OB/ GYN, Dr. Alyssa Dweck, has released her third book, The Complete A to Z for Your V. What does the V represent? Vagina, of course! Dr. Dweck’s reference guide explains hormones, the complexity of female genitalia, gynecological health, how to maximize pleasure, and much, much more. She emphasizes that knowledge really is
empowerment. If you’re a woman, this book has the answers to all the questions you’ve had and weren’t quite sure how to ask.
I recently learned about Andrew K. Dwyer, a young man who had great admiration for those who put their lives on the line daily to serve and protect us. His parents established the Andrew K. Dwyer Foundation in his memory to provide financial assistance to the children of police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel from Bedford, Katonah, and Bedford Hills who plan on attending college.
