Ten Minutes With Linda Gering Kreisberg
an energy healer

Linda Gering Kreisberg is a devotee of John of God, the Brazilian transmedium considered by many to be the most powerful healer on the planet. A seasoned restorative yoga/meditation teacher, she works out of her Bedford studio and enhances her therapeutic work with a unique form of energy healing known as a crystal bed. She invited Bedford Magazine to see the crystal bed and discuss its history as well as its unusual benefits.
How did you become interested in John of God?
I’m a leap-of-faith person and a big skeptic. Five years ago, I made a last-minute decision to tag along with a friend to the Omega Institute to see John of God. I’d been to tons of healers and had never really felt anything. But that day in his presence, I felt an overwhelming energy exchange—I don’t know how else to describe it. At his invitation, I booked a trip to Brazil and a few months later arrived at the Casa de Dom Inacio, his healing center in Abadiania.
What is a crystal bed?
John of God began channeling healing entities as a child. The crystal bed was channeled through him as an energetic, healing modality. The apparatus has seven specially cut crystals hanging from it. Clients lay on a massage table with each crystal corresponding to one of the seven chakras—wheels of energy that line the spine from the tailbone to the crown of the head—and it balances and aligns the chakras for optimum health. What I do is create the space, or, as they say at the Casa, “hold current” for people to receive deep healing.
Why do you visit the Casa annually?
I have witnessed incredible healings there— people going into spontaneous remission from cancer and MS, stroke victims start walking after years of paralysis. I can’t deny what I have seen! The sickest of the sick, who have been told by their doctors that there is no more Western medical treatment for them arrive with incredible hope. Many well-known sages, heads of state, and celebrities, like Oprah, have visited, and like me, they experienced the palpable energy surrounding John of God. I’ve taken friends, yoga students, and curiosity seekers from Westchester to the Casa and they, too, are amazed by their own transformations in the entities’ presence.
Bedford doesn’t seem like the kind of place where people would seek spiritual healing on a bed of lights. What gives?
I have found there is an incredibly spiritual community here in Bedford. I’ve had the crystal bed for three years. At first I was afraid to set it up. I didn’t see myself as a person to do this work. But one day I took it out and without advertising or even talking about it very much, people started coming. Now I do a minimum of three crystal-bed sessions a week. I’ve had amazing experiences in my healing room. Just this week, a client from the city limped in with crippling sciatica, and now it’s gone.
Are you ever tempted to move to Brazil?
Never—my service is here. John of God told me I was a “bridge” for people on their spiritual journey. Really, I’m just a Jewish girl from New Jersey who got on this path and discovered my true calling. Lucky me.
