The Art of It: Body Art
A show-stopping series of hand-painted electric guitars
There is a new player on the Bedford art scene. Artist Julie Rosenberg has unveiled a show-stopping series of hand-painted electric guitars at the recently opened Dyan & Daughters Gallery in Katonah. A former physical therapist and lead guitarist in a rock band, Rosenberg says that for her, the common denominator between her previous pursuits is an appreciation for the human body. “Both types of bodies—human and guitar—are exquisitely built for dynamic performance.”
Rosenberg’s guitars are emboldened with sharp geometric shapes in a vibrant array of colors, painted upon a surface that she finds irresistible. She views her usage of the guitar body as a canvas as a natural progression from her appreciation for the human body. “There’s art in the body, and I always saw that,” she notes.
