Festive Family Fun
Bedford area Holiday events thru the New Year
Feel like walking in a WINTER WONDERLAND? You’re in luck. Santa Claus and his crew are back at the Kensico Dam for the third year of holiday festivities from November 25 through January 2. Admission includes The Santa Experience, Candy Cane Lane, a musical light show, unlimited ice skating (including skate rentals) on the Rangers Town outdoor rink, unlimited rides on the Wonderland Express, Holly Jolly Caterpillar, and Winter Hay Ride. New this year is the Hanneford Holiday Circus, with four shows each night under the big top tent (wwinterwonderland.com).
Do you or your kids need some last minute gifts? Make a holiday wreath, a flower pot snowman, mitten sun catchers, and a fragrant pomander ball while enjoying hot cocoa and cookies in the ballroom at the John Jay Homestead Holiday Craft Fair on December 17. Drop in; no reservations required (johnjayhomestead.org).
If dance is your thing, check out the Hip Hop Nutcracker at the SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center on December 15. This contemporary twist on the holiday ballet reimagines Tchaikovsky’s classic score through explosive hip hop choreography and features a dozen dancers, on-stage DJ, and an electric violinist (purchase.edu).
Or, if you prefer a traditional Nutcracker Ballet, the Westchester Ballet Company will perform at the Westchester County Center from December 16 to 18 (westchesterballet.wordpress.com).
